Description
- Botanical Name: Begonia Maculata
- Common Name(s): Polka Dot Begonia, Angel Wing Begonia
- Description: Native to Mexico, Madagascar, South Africa, Central America, and Asia, the polka dot plant is a lively and beautiful plant with bright silver spotted leaves, while the undersides glow a rich burgundy-red. Put them in a mass of ferns or ivies, and their colors will stand out in bright contrast. Under the right conditions, this plant will produce clusters of delicate, bell-shaped white or light pink flowers. The Maculata acts as a natural air purifier, filtering out common household toxins and airborne particulates, and replacing them with fresh oxygen, as well as boosts humidity levels with it's large leaves.
- Care: Bright indirect light, keep evenly moist but never soggy, and moderate humidity (50%+). Water when the top 1" of soil feels dry. Repotting should only occur every 1-2 years or when roots fill the pot, as Begonias prefer to be slightly rootbound.
